Friends of St Mary’s Churchyard

The Friends group are making encouraging progress in terms of planning, tasking and offers of financial support. Initial feedback from our questionnaire indicate that we need both a financial and practical community plan for the management of our churchyard. Fundraising has already started. All monies raised will be allocated to a Churchyard management fund and will not be used to subsidise the costs associated with the church’s role as a place of worship.

We believe we can work together and forge a strong community group that will make our churchyard beautiful. A place we can all be proud of and enjoy spending time in.
Volunteers are planning to meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30 and Saturday mornings from 10.30. We have a plan available in church of ideas for upkeep and improvements. Villagers may wish to take responsibility for planting and clearing certain areas? Neil will continue to take responsibility for grass cutting.
Please contact Jenny Thomas, Gary Siggins or Alan Fall if you would like to help in anyway.

UPCOMING SERVICES - EVERYBODY IS WELCOME

SUNDAY 4TH AUGUST 10am Morning Service (lay-led)

SUNDAY 18TH AUGUST 10am Holy Communion (led by David Dunning)

SUNDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 10am Patronal Service - celebrating St Mary (lay-led)

SUNDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER 10am Holy Communion (led by David Dunning)

On Sundays when we are without a service here in Bradford Abbas, we encourage villagers to take in a service at one of our neighbouring churches. There is always a list of these on display in the church porch.

Thank you!

Nicola and I would like to thank you all for the wonderful send-off we had in June. The final service in Thornford Church was just lovely and the Reception at the Village Hall was a great way of saying goodbye to you all.

Thank you also for the very generous cheque you gave us – we think that we will use it to buy a new set of bookcases to house our many books.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our 10+ years with you all in the Three Valleys Benefice and will miss you all greatly.

Best wishes

Tony and Nicola Gilbert
