The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) provides scientific and technical advice to support government decision makers during emergencies.
As they move towards easing the lockdown, it is obviously more difficult for government to deliver simple messages for us all to follow.
Here is information about quite a few local businesses who will deliver or prepare for you to collect.
These include not only
- the Bradford Abbas Village Stores (01935 420685)
- and the Rose and Crown (01935 474506) but also
- businesses in Sherborne and the surrounding Area.

I have a list of kind volunteers in the community that can provide help.
While out on patrol Sherborne Police have received a few reports from members of the public alleging that some public footpaths and other rights of way in the Dorchester & Sherborne area have been closed. Having consulted with Dorset Council, who are responsible for all rights of way, we are happy to pass on the following information to clarify the situation.
The following 2020 Parish Council Meetings are CANCELLED:
- 7th April Ordinary Parish Council Mtg
- 7th April Annual Parish Mtg
- 5th May Annual Council Mtg
Please note the above meetings are cancelled for the health and safety of the Councillors and public in order to follow government guidance on social distancing and self-isolation.
From the Dorset Council Highways Department:
Between 18 May 2020 and 5 June 2020, the roads highlighted on the attached map are scheduled for surface dressing. These sites will form a rolling programme that is weather dependent and liable to change.
The Interpretation Board, which stands in the village near the War Memorial, is the result of an idea put into action by Bradford Abbas History Society.
Angela Haigh, Chair of the History Society, tells us the story of the Interpretation Board for which we have to thank Derek Hayward for all the hard work he put in to make it finally happen, together with several very generous funders.
